Tabitha’s Wedding Day – February 12, 1895
Tabitha had been standing in front of the mirror for a full five minutes, transfixed by her own image. The face that looked back at her was filled with trepidation at the day and especially the night ahead of her, and she suddenly looked even younger than her nineteen years. Ginny, Tabitha’s lady’s maid, had styled her rich chestnut hair fashionably but still conservatively enough as befitted a bride about to join one of the most well-respected aristocratic families in England.
Tabitha’s white wedding dress, while also appropriately demure, was a perfect confection of silk and lace; Tabitha’s mother, Lady Jameson, would allow nothing less. As eager as Lady Jameson was to be rid of her youngest and most challenging daughter, standards still had to be upheld, particularly when Tabitha was marrying Jonathan Chesterton, the rich, handsome Earl of Pembroke.
